    Prints charming

    country dining room
Bring some quirky character to a neutral, cottagey scheme with charming country-inspired prints that inject pops of colour. This delightful beamed country dining room shows exactly how it’s done.

A trestle table at the heart of the room really comes to life dressed with a tablecloth featuring whimsical chickens – a must for anyone who keeps hens. The cotton print fabric, from the Fresh collection by Prestigious Textiles, is called Harriet and is also available in a PVC finish, a super practical option for a dining room or kitchen diner.

A modern twist is then introduced with a simple geometric called Millions, also from the Fresh collection by Prestigious Textiles, which is used on the curtains and cushions, and complements the tablecloth beautifully, as well as adding a fun element.

Give the look a modern country edge with retro chairs and hang industrial-style pendants above the table for an on-trend feel.

Country living room by Prestigious Textiles

Charcoal grey shutters make a stunning backdrop in a country living room – especially one that overlooks the garden – and bring a period scheme bang up to date.

As well as a splash of on-trend grey, a modern twist is also given to this period room with mid-century modern sofas in fresh, spring green shades.

The stylish sofas are upholstered in toning fabrics for a mix and match look. Vintage-style checked Steamer is combined with jaunty nautical striped Quay to create sofas with an eclectic look. Cushions in Quay, Mooring (an embroidered diamond trellis), and Paddle (an abstract geometric), as well as Steamer, all in a pretty retro green, combine to create a laid-back feel.  (All fabrics from the Lakeside collection by Prestigious Textiles.)

Team with a retro coffee table for a sense of vintage chic – try Rockett St George for a similar design.

Keep the look pared-back by teaming with wooden floorboards free from rugs to show off the grain of the wood.

Country dining room with fabrics by Prestigious Textiles

Mixing old and new is a huge trend in modern country homes and this lovely country dining room demonstrates perfectly how to do it with a blend of beautiful fabrics and some well-chosen reclamation yard furniture.

The large vintage table has an industrial edge that imbues it with bags of character, while providing plenty of space for guests if you’re entertaining at Easter. Team with timeworn, chapel-style chairs for a dash of salvage yard chic and mix and match them to keep the look informal. To find similar characterful vintage furniture, scour reclamation yards like Lassco or websites such as Furniture Etc.

Soften the look with swathes of fabric. Large windows are the perfect excuse to indulge in floor-length curtains, while a long table demands a runner that attracts attention without obscuring the grain of the wood. Here, gorgeous linen prints in understated designs and muted palettes from the Nomad collection by Prestigious Textiles have been introduced.  The curtain fabric, Tabriz, is decorated with a batik-like motif, while the table runner, Genoa, is inspired by architectural curves and arches.

Keep the look relaxed with stylish table top touches such as enamel containers for storing cutlery.

Love a cosy country living room

    autumnal country living room

Neutral backdrops are perfect for introducing seasonal colour, and here’s a country living room that oozes cosy autumnal loveliness.

Choosing a pair of sofas and positioning them opposite each other adds symmetry to a room and increases the sociability factor. It also makes for extra toastiness when situated on either side of the fireplace.

An upholstered footstool in between adds a decorative touch, as well as providing a practical place for displaying items or for a tray of hot drinks.

What really lifts the scheme is the mix of beautiful fabrics in the same warm tones. From the Devonshire collection by Prestigious Textiles, the fabrics speak for themselves and comprise designs including an embroidered Jacobean trail,  sprigs of blossom and a woven stripe that work beautifully together on upholstered furniture, curtains, cushions and throws.

Make the focal point of the room a fire with a wooden surround for extra warmth and and team with painted furniture for a classic country look that exudes elegance.

    Be beside the seaside

    Coastal living room

Those lazy hazy days of summer make us here at Country Days want to head on down to the beach. And if you want to recreate that coastal feel in your own home, this beautiful living room certainly paves the way.

Seaside living is all about relaxed style, with cool cotton fabrics, natural textures and maritime-themed accessories.

Blue and white is the classic coastal palette, but injecting red into the mix warms up the look and adds depth. We love the fabrics in this scheme, which are part of the evocative Coast collection by Prestigious Textiles – a selection of fabrics featuring beach huts, seagulls, sailboats and shoreline treasures in iconic vintage style, with a jaunty stripe used as an eyecatching foil.

Mixing and matching different fabrics that tone creates a vibrant scheme, while interspersing panels of fabric at the window and on the scatter and seat cushions on the settle are really clever ways to create a scheme with personality.

Emphasise the coastal theme further with some contemporary style driftwood side tables, rope doorstops, glass floats and natural flooring.

    Bring the outdoors in

    country kitchen diner

Here at Country Days, we’re so enjoying the sunny weather and beautiful summer gardens at the moment, and just loving the idea of bringing the outdoors in.

So we couldn’t resist this gorgeous country dining room with its pretty florals that demonstrates perfectly how to mix and match old and new for a modern look.

Bags of character is added with the fantastic weathered and limed wood trestle table and benches (find similar at antiques fairs and give it a chalky look yourself with watered-down paint). Then partner with French-style chairs, as here, for a dash of elegance.

To show off the beauty of the woodden table, the tablesetting is deliberately kept simple and understated with cool cotton runners and rustic tableware.

It goes without saying that the colourful fabrics from Prestigious Textiles really bring the look to life. Teaming a trailing floral fabric with toning stripes creates a really pretty and relaxed look that’s perfect for an informal area.

To bring the scheme bang up to date, hang oversized industrial-style pendants above the dining table and add Tolix stools in the kitchen. (Don’t you just love the quirky finishing touch of the giant knife and fork wall art in the kitchen?)

    Create a wow workspace

    Neutral country home office

Make working from home a breeze by ensuring you have delightful surroundings, like this elegant country home office, to knuckle down in.

Natural light is an important factor, and this space works particularly well because it’s so close to the window, and has the advantage that it allows you to gaze out at the view for extra inspiration!

A neutral palette has been used here, and muted colours are always a great choice as they help create the sort of calm environment that’s conducive to work.

For extra versatility, create a workspace that really feels as if it’s part of your home by decorating in a similar style, then you can use it for other purposes if necessary.

Comfort and functionality are key when choosing furniture. A large, practical table allows plenty of room for spreading out papers – here the stylish trestle table adds a modern touch and can also double as a dining table if space is an issue.

If you’re a a fan of co-ordination, you’ll love that the stool is upholstered in the same gorgeous fabric as the stunning floor-length curtains (Ferndown in Lichen from the Dorchester Collection by Prestigious Textiles).  The leafy trail motif helps bring the outside in and is perfect for creating a relaxed mood.

Finally, the parquet flooring sets the look off beautifully as it tones with the table and emphasises the natural, pared-back feel.
