    All things bright and beautiful

    Floral country dining room

If you’re bored of beige and tired of taupe, here’s a look that’s definitely not for the fainthearted! We here at Country Days can’t get enough of florals – whether ditsy or oversized – so we’re smitten with this big, bold and beautiful decor.

Wallpapers and fabrics featuring dramatic florals are super stylish but need to be incorporated into an interiors scheme with care. Make a statement feature wall with wallpaper and then balance the look, as in this country dining room, with simple, streamlined furniture.  A clean-lined wooden table and industrial bench are the perfect foil – you can soften the bench with seat cushions in the same fabric – while black painted furniture provides contrast and definition. Keep the look on trend by teaming with low vintage pendants over the table.

The stunning wallpaper and fabric are created by New York-based designer Kim Parker, in collaboration with Clarke & Clarke, and the resulting Kim Parker Artbook collection comprises 13 exclusive designs (the evocatively named design shown here is Ariadne’s Dream) featuring her signature style of joyful modern floral art and design, and is available from September. ‘It has been a dream of mine since childhood to create wallpapers and fabrics that transform rooms into lush, exuberant interior gardens,’ Kim says.

    Country room: floral bathroom

    by  • 20/05/2014 • Country style • 2 Comments

We’re on a roll celebrating country flower motifs… we love them in every room, but here they are used in a country bathroom to great effect.

Colourful oversized floral wallpaper makes a statement and certainly adds the wow factor. Team with an elegant roll top, a must-have in any country bathroom, for a romantic look.

The key to making this scheme work is keeping the other ingredients in the scheme understated. Use on-trend brick tiles to introduce a modern edge (plain ones keep the look balanced), and team with subtle grey flooring from Amtico. A vintage stool is the perfect finishing touch – it’s handy for towels, or a posy of fresh country flowers.
