    floral country bedroom

This time of year is all about throwing open the doors and bringing the outside in, and it’s a look that’s perfect for a country bedroom.

Here, a classically elegant bedframe (Lily by Button & Sprung), evokes chic style with its understated scroll detail and row of handstitched buttons on the headboard, plus turned wooden legs.  Choosing a bed that’s upholstered in a neutral colourway, such as this silver grey shade, is guaranteed to go with any scheme and also creates a hint of hotel luxe.

Partner with pretty summer-meadow inspired bedlinen (this one is Butterfly print by Zara Home) for a seasonal edge and layer with a fringed woollen throw for chillier evenings.

Big up the country feel with a distressed, rustic bedside table and keep the flooring understated by teaming bare floorboards with a natural fibre rug.

Make life a bed of roses…

Floral country bedroom from Country Days at Country Homes and Interiors

Cottage style is the perfect scheme for a country bedroom in spring and summertime with its abundance of pretty floral fabrics in shades inspired by the garden, homely vintage-find furniture and simple, laid-back vibe. And it’s a style that’s one of our favourites here at Country Days.

Florals bring an instant hit of summer to any country bedroom, and we were immediately smitten with this pretty bedlinen covered in a vintage rose print by Julie Dodsworth at Bedeck, which works perfectly in a cottage-style scheme.

Julie’s work is inspired by the English waterways and her beloved narrowboat Calamity Jane, and this beautiful design, Mary Rose, is adorned with trailing roses that are influenced by childhood memories of patterned linens and colourful silk threads from Julie’s mum’s sewing box, complete with a small rosebud motif on the reverse.

Big up the cottage feel by using the bedlinen in a room with a muted backdrop so it becomes the focal point of the scheme. Floral designs work beautifully with a wrought-iron bed, and you can create the cosy feel that’s integral to cottage style by layering up with a co-ordinating throw and cushions and accessorising with crisp white sheets and pillowcases.

Team with vintage furniture such as a timeworn wooden chest of drawers or a Windsor chair for homely character. If you want to add a modern twist and be on-trend, introduce some industrial lighting. Then finish off with painted floorboards and a natural fibre rug to enhance the simple, rustic look.

    Country room: floral bedroom

Now that we’re into March, we’re loving daffodil yellows here at Country Homes & Interiors. And what better place to use them than in a country bedroom?

No need to redecorate. Simply choose a neutral backdrop – this rustic tongue and groove evokes a simple cabin-like feel –  and team with vintage and Ercol-inspired wooden furniture to create a retro country look. Then add a burst of colour on the bed with a pretty yellow floral bedlinen such as this one by Christy.

Lighting can be used to make a real style statement – follow through the sunny yellow theme with a task lamp, and finish off with on-trend pared-back bulb pendant.

Okame bedlinen in Saffron from the Vintage Collection by Christy. Prices start at £79 for a single duvet and £35 for a pair of Oxford pillowcases
