    by  • 09/02/2015 • Country moment, Country style • 0 Comments

Country Days, Country Homes and Interiors, Liberty Art Fabrics Interiors - The Secret Garden Collection 2015Here at Country Days, we’re priviliged to see the most beautiful country-style fabrics on an almost daily basis. The latest textiles to wow us are from the Secret Garden Collection at Liberty Art Fabrics.

Inspired by Frances Hodgson Burnett’s 1911 novel, The Secret Garden, this wild and beautiful collection of furnishing fabric and wallpaper reflects the rich imagination of Burnett’s prose and the beauty of the countryside.

The super-talented Head of Design at Liberty, Emma Mawston, says, ‘These fabrics are a diverse series of flora, foliage and texture which reflect the hues of the changing seasons. They’re perfect to launch in store now as the deep rich velvet tones of winter change into the fresh, uplifting, sunlit shades of new growth.’

We particularly love Wallace Secret Garden print and wallpaper, shown.

Jo Clark Design on Country Days Blog

This week the object of our affections is Jo Clark Design’s quirky illustrations, notably the two owl friends (above) who’ve found the perfect spot for a lovely cup of tea! Owls are set to be a big trend this season, making these screen-printed tea towels one for our wish list.

‘My designs are hand drawn illustrations inspired by my garden, what lives in it, and the beautiful British countryside that surrounds me,’ says Jo.

In addition to the owl tea towels our favourite picks from the home accessories collection are the adorable Cat Nap cushions and the array of Floral art prints.

    Summer in bloom

    by  • 16/08/2014 • Country style • 0 Comments

Made_by_Hands_ceramics_on_Country_DaysIt’s always a joy to be surrounded by feel-good fresh flowers, here at Country Days we’re always on the look out for vessels equally as beautiful to display them in.

We were delighted to discover these stunning vases (above) at Made by Hands, a ceramics business based in the heart of the Cotswolds, specialising in unusual handmade ceramics. Designer Mouse Martin lovingly hand-crafts each unique piece. We love the use of texture on the designs, handmade using paper clay and cleverly rolling hessian into the surface to give the appearance of fabric.

With a style that’s simple and clean, yet beautiful and usable we’d say the collection is perfectly suited to the modern country home.

Duckydora is the home of exclusively designed textiles and ceramics, by talented sisters Sally and Judith. The aspiration behind the brand is to create accessories that are beautiful, practical and (where possible) ethically made by British artisans.

Look glamorous and stay safe! Oven gloves featuring the Amalfi stripe, Florence floral & Sienna print, £18 each, Duckydora.

I’m always intrigued by the fabulous names given to so many country businesses. So I asked Sally… ‘the name was the easy bit,’ she told me, revealing that the sisters were affectionately called duckydora by their beloved granny. With a homely feel and personal touch, it was simply the perfect name.

Here’s more from their charming collection…

    Country buy: coastal treasures

    by  • 05/07/2013 • Country style • 0 Comments

I’ve got my heart set on moving to the seaside, so my radar is very much on all things coastal. The object of my affections this week is the work of Jessica Hogarth; her designs beautifully capture the feel-good factor of living by the sea.

Influenced by growing up in the picturesque fishing village of Robin Hoods Bay, on the North Yorkshire coast, Jessica’s charming illustrations depict coastal living – with wallpapers, cushions, kitchen textiles and stationery plentiful with bold sail boats, coastal cottages and marine wildlife.

Coastal cottages cushion, £36; Sailor's life for me blank greetings card, £2.20; Seagulls blank greetings card, £2.20; Boat nostalgia tea towel, £10, all Jessica Hogarth Designs.

Until I’m living the dream, maybe this quirky wallpaper is enough to evoke the spirit of life in a quaint coastal village…

    Cosy country bedroom

    by  • 02/04/2013 • Country style • 0 Comments

If you’re still trying to catch up on your sleep since the hour went forward at the weekend, perhaps a new décor for your country bedroom is the answer. This calming yet cosy scheme caught my eye.

The beamed room has a simple, classic elegance that works well in a cottage or a grander country house scheme. The focal point is the beautiful distressed French style bed, layered up with pristine white lace edged bedlinen and a cosy blanket. (If you buy an antique bedstead such as this, make sure you invest in a good mattress such as those by Vispring to ensure a good night’s sleep!).

Mix and match bedside tables give an eclectic feel, while striped and spotted rugs cosy up the wooden floor underfoot.  A flowing curtain in a warm coral coloured print adds a welcome splash of warming colour to an otherwise neutral scheme.
