    by  • 21/11/2016 • Country moment, Country style • 0 Comments

This year, step into the most elegant of festive interiors at Neptune’s mini woodland cabin at our first-ever show! Country Homes & Interiors Christmas is taking place this weekend (Friday 25 to Sunday 27 November) at beautiful Stonor Park, near Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.

Christmas at Neptune is all about quiet seasonal references. Think muted colours, timeless decorations and cosseting warmth, all underpinned by nature’s touch – after all, nature is at the heart of everything this British interiors brand does.

For our show, they’ll be creating a cosy living and dining room set for you to explore, relax in, and garner ideas for Christmas in your own home. Inside, find lots of exposed timber and stone to set the woodland scene, as well as a carefully considered arrangement of meticulously made furniture, lighting and home accessory collections – not to mention Christmassy accents, from wreaths and trees to candles and glistening baubles.

And don’t forget, if you like what you find, Neptune’s Reading store is only a half-hour drive away from the show, where you can browse the brand’s entire collection – Christmas and beyond. What’s more, as a thank you for visiting the show, you’ll receive a gift worth £25 if you spend £100 or more!

Our first-ever show, Country Homes & Interiors Christmas is opening its doors next weekend at the beautiful Stonor Park, near Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. British interior’s brand Neptune are joining us there, styling cosy room sets to inspire your festive decorating this year.

The Neptune interior design team have renovated this 6,500 sq ft space into the most exquisite showcase of its furniture, lighting and home accessory collections, spread across two levels with expansive gardens and an oak-framed barn.  You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into your dream home rather than a retail store!

    Devol Shaker country kitchen

Sometimes less really is more, and we’re loving the understated feel of this beautiful country kitchen with its nod to French farmhouse chic.

There’s a definite trend towards interiors becoming darker with rich, bold colours all the rage. These gorgeous Shaker cabinets from DeVol come in a dramatic dark bluey grey. The base cabinets make a statement, with an absence of wall cupboards and shelves keeping the look simple and uncluttered. Open cupboards allow for beautiful displays, as well as easy access. Brass handles and industrial-style pendants and copper pans provide a warm contrast to the colour of the units and really sing out.

The rustic feel is enhanced with worktops made from reclaimed scaffolding planks, while a scrubbed wooden table and stools create a homely, informal dining area.

A few eclectic touches – a garden tap, frayed rattan chair and weathered work table – provide quirky vintage touches that give the scheme extra character.

    Our favourite shop: Tinsmiths

    by  • 11/11/2016 • Country moment, Country style • 0 Comments

Visit Tinsmiths in LedburyThis week we’ve been inspired by Tinsmiths in Herefordshire where owners Alex and Phoebe Clive sell beautiful fabrics, lighting, art prints and gifts in a spectacularly quirky shop building.

What inspired you to open your shop Tinsmiths?
Our shop was inspired by a passion for good designs with a long ‘shelf life’, both practically and stylistically. Here, all our staff are makers or designers who understand materials and processes. Our focus is centred on textiles – fabrics for curtains, blinds and upholstery.
How would you describe the shop’s style?
Our two showrooms, architecturally speaking, are characteristic of Tinsmiths style. On the one hand, a surprisingly bold and daring shopfront (pictured) designed and built by Alex, and, on the other, an ancient timber-framed workshop made user-friendly by modern interventions. We really enjoy the challenge of mixing old and new, industrial and domestic to achieve timeless interiors.
What makes your shop so special?
The people. We think hard about what we are offering and take this responsibility seriously, in terms of what we display in our shop and when we set about making curtains or blinds for a client. We like to source fabrics, lighting and homewares close to home, where possible, such as fabrics woven in the north of England, pots thrown in the surrounding area, and kitchen utensils, hooks and ironwork from local makers.

Do you have a favourite interiors shop to visit? We would love to hear more about it…

    Farmhouse chic

    country kitchen diner

We’re loving the modern rustic style of this cosy country kitchen with its farmhouse feel. There’s nothing like keeping toasty beside a range  cooker in the kitchen on those chilly winter’s days…

This scheme mixes traditional and modern elements beautifully. Classic country pieces include the range cooker, corner cupboard and wooden bench, which lends an air of informality to the dining space.

A focal point of white painted retro chairs and a dainty tablecloth is warmed up with a mix of earthy toned cushion fabrics providing an eclectic, bohemian touch. (Fabrics all from Vanessa Arbuthnott.)

Meanwhile, a comfy armchair (the Calmsden from Vanessa Arbuthnott) makes a great place to curl up and enjoy a cuppa.

An industrial-style pendant above the table emphasises the retro feel and keeps the look bang on trend.
