To celebrate Country Homes & Interiors’ 2015 My Country Business Awards, we’re catching up with last year’s winners to find out how the award has helped them progress their amazing businesses and realise their dreams.
Just a spoonful of Susan Green’s delicious puddings was enough to win over the judges in the Food category. Her business, The Proof of the Pudding, has grown from chocolate puddings to a great range of award-winning flavours from her farm. Susan chats to us about what’s changed for her since winning…
What did winning mean to you?
Winning the award was quite a thrill as I really didn’t expect it at all. It was a great compliment to our products and wonderful publicity for our brand. Apart from the wonderful advertising, the recognition has added to the credibility of the business – I’m never sure that those of us who work from home are always taken seriously. I am making lots of use of the winners’ logo!
How have you developed the brand since?
We had very strong Christmas sales across all of our product range and I had to take on two temporary staff to manage the demand from both our stockists and our mail order.
What’s your long-term goal?
I aim to build my brand to match maximum production capacity in our premises, and I will look to the longer term when we’ve achieved this. I’m very anxious to ensure we don’t lose the homemade quality for which our puddings are known.
How helpful was the support that you got from winning?
I was left feeling inspired and enthused, with lots of ideas to pursue.
