I just love lavender and, on Sunday, I indulged my obsession again with a trip to the garden centre to buy even more. I happily spent the afternoon with my son, Jamie, digging holes for themĀ in our dry, poor and pebbly soil. They look a bit small and tufty at the moment but I know that in a few short months they’ll be happily producing their scented spikes of delicate purple flowers. Mmmm… can’t wait.

    My favourite flower

It’s hard for me to have a VERY favorite flower (or, even, a VERY favorite color, for that matter) but I lavender plants. The combination of form, that green and that purple and the scent make them “the best”. I’m right with you on your sentiment. Thanks for the prettypretty, as usual!

Ooooh ask me about having a favorite plant! I found I couldn’t kill it! “countrydays” be sure that you nip those small plants in the bud this first year…they will then spend their energy putting down healthy roots and bless you with more stems for their first harvest next year!

Oooh….lavender, my favouritist of flowers and the mainstay of my little business, formerly a shop and now at Farmers Markets in the Oxfordshire area. I hated it SO much when I was younger and then suddenly had what can only be described as an epithany about 5 years ago. Now I’m the biggest lavender fan there is.

Don’t worry about your poor soil thats exactly what lavender loves, in fact we had to add sand to our soil to make the plants happier here on the farm.

Enjoy the delightful scent all summer long.

      Sue xx
